ESSEX ACTIVATE – FREE HALF TERM PLACES AND INVITE FOR SCHOOLS

Essex ActivAte is the Department for Education funded holiday activity and food programme, aimed at providing free holiday clubs for young people who are eligible for benefits based free schools meals. We were really pleased to deliver a successful Easter holiday programme over 8 days, providing 22,465 places at 62 clubs across the county. Each club provides free, fun physical and enrichment activities, a nutritious meal, nutritional education as well as support for the whole family.

Essex County Council recognises that many families are struggling financially at this current time and so have provided additional funding so that we can extend the offer to working families who are financially struggling and whose children could benefit from the support of the Essex ActivAte clubs during the June half term and Summer holidays.

Half term Essex ActivAte – we will once again be delivering free holiday activity clubs across the county during half term and would apprentice it if you could promote the opportunity to parents and carers at your school. For your ease we have put together some wording and link to our website below, which has all of the booking links for you to use when promoting to parents and carers:

Active Essex and Essex County Council are pleased to be offering FREE places on the Essex ActivAte half term holiday programme for young people who are eligible for benefits based free school meals and for those working families who could benefit from this additional holiday support. These clubs provide a range of fun activities and a healthy lunch for every child attending. All clubs offer at least 4 hours of fun each day. We have also provided a letter that can be sent out / emailed to parents if you would prefer to target those families at your school who are eligible for the programme. (attached)

Get involved in the Essex ActivAte summer programme – we were really pleased to work in partnership with a number of primary and secondary schools over Easter, and are keen to extend this partnership with schools for the delivery of the summer programme. Schools can get involved in a number of ways. You might like to deliver the full holiday programme, providing staff to deliver sessions and provide food, or you might like to host a programme for your pupils, in which case we can link you up with local delivery partners, or maybe a bit of both! We have funding to cover the costs of opening up schools facilities for these programmes should it be needed.
